Color Block Infinity Scarf
Aunt Ninny's favorite thing to do wben sbe's supposed to be working is to thbumb through the J. Jill catalog circling things she will never buy. But wbo needs to buy wben you can copy? Even Aunt Ninny isn't above a little knock-off once in awbile. There's something so deliciously naugbty about it! Knit with six colors of Elsebeth Lavold's Silky Wool, this scarf makes for easy, mindless knitting--until you get to the kichener stitch graft at the end. But it's already stolen, right? So wbat's a little graft? Needles Size 6 US 16 inch circular or double point needles Tapestry needle Gauge 24 sts and 31 rows = 4 inches, but gauge isn't critical. Just knit 11 1/2 inches in each color. Finished Size A tube approximately 64" long x 10" around
Yarn
6 skeins Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool (175m/50g) in #91 Yellow Apple, #75 Griseldis Rose, #119 Tomato Red, #132 Oxblood, #101 Mallard, #102 Mild Green, or any colors you like. You will have enough left over to make a pair of striped socks or gloves to match!
A Little Tip
To prevent the color jog from showing, attach the new color, and knit one round. When you come around to the first stitch in the next round, drop down a row, pick up the first stitch in the round of the old color with the tip of your right needle, and place it onto the left needle, lifting it up and over the first stitch so it is on the left side of that stitch. Then knit the two stitches together through the fronts.
Directions
With yellow, provisionally cast on 60 sts. Knit in the round in St st (stockinette stitch: knit every row) for 11 1/2 inches. Change to pink and knit 11 1/2 inches. Change to orange and knit 11 1/2 inches. Change to purple and knit 11 1/2 inches. Change to blue and knit 11 1/2 inches. Change to green and knit 11 1/2 inches. IMPORTANT NOTE: before you graft the ends of the scarf together, weave in all your ends!! (Don't ask Aunt Ninny how she knows that). Remove provisional cast on yarn and using kichener stitch, graft the beginning and the end of the scarf together, making sure the scarf is not twisted. Block lightly, let dry.
Neutral Variation

For a neutral version using only 5 skeins, choose a black or charcoal, a dark brown, a camel/beige, a white, and a light grey from the Elsebeth Silky Wool palette. Following the directions for color version, knit 12 3/4 inches in each color in the order above. Finish as for the colorblock version. Questions or problems? Ask Aunt Ninny at ninnyknits@gmail.com
