Materials Needed

1 skein (280 yards) Old Maiden Aunt yarn - Alpaca/Silk Sport/DK or any sport weight yarn 10-15 yards each of 3 different colors scrap yarn - same approximate weight as main color Size US 7 circular needle - 38" long

Abbreviations

K - knit P-purl sl1 - slip I stitch as if to purl wyf - with the yarn held in front of work wyb - with the yarn held in back of work

Row 1 - \*K1, sl1 wyf\* repeat to end of row Row 2 - \*P1, sl1 wyb\* repeat to end of row

Directions

With main color cast on 250 stitches Work 5 rows, beginning with row 2 of the linen stitch (purl row) Work 2 rows in contrast color Work 6 rows in main color Continue in this manner, working entire scarf in linen stitch, switching to a contrast color for 2 rows after working 6 rows of main color End after 4 rows of main color; cast off Tassels are made by cutting 5 pieces of yarn approximately 17" long, holding them all together at one end, then threading through a few stitches at end scarf end.
