Daisy Beanie
Sizes newborn and 0-3 months
5mm hook for hat, 4mm hook for flowers, DK yarn in main colour and contrast, large eyed needle for sewing in ends DC - Double Crochet (UK Treble), inc- increase (work 2DC into stitch on previous round), SC- Single Crochet (UK Double) For newborn follow pattern, for 0-3 months follow instructions in square brackets []. Repeat instructions in round brackets () to end of round. NOTE :- at start of every round unless otherwise written chain 2 (two) and then work 1st stitch/es into same stitch as chain/slip from previous row. To finish each round slip stitch into the 1st DC instead of the chain stitches. The chain 2 will not count as a stitch and by doing this will help to make the join almost invisible
Main Beanie
1. Using main colour and 5mm hook chain 3, work 10 DC in 3'd chain from hook, slip stitch to join 2. Work 2DC in each stitch (see note above), slip into 1"t stitch- 20DC 3. Work (DC, inc) around, slip to join - 30DC 4. Work (DC,DC,inc) around, slip to join - 40DC 5. Work (7DC, inc) for newborn size or [4DC,inc] for 0-3mths - 44DC [48DC] 6. Work 5 [6] rounds of DC in each DC of previous round - 44DC [48DC] 7. Shell edging. If changing colour do so on the previous rounds slip stitch to join. Do not chain. Work (skip 1 DC, work 5 DC in next DC, skip 1 DC, Slip Stitch into next DC) to end, fasten off. Neaten ends. If you wish to make the beanie larger work in multiples of 4 , As an example if after step 5 you have 48 sts, on step 6 work (5dc, inc) around to get 56sts and then remember to add some extra depth and work 2 or 3 extra rounds more without shaping
Smaller Flower
Using contrast and 4mm hook 1. Chain 4, slip stitch into 1st chain to create a loop 2. Work 8 SC into loop, slip to join 3. Chain 8, slip into same stitch as join, work 8 chain, slip into SAME stitch. 4. (Slip into next SC, 8 chain, slip stitch, 8 chain, slip stitch) into same stitch, continue around to work a total of 16 petal loops. Fasten off and neaten ends.
Larger Flower
Work as for Smaller flower, but instead make 12 SC into loop on step 2, and for 3 and 4 work 10 chain for each flower loop (24 loops). Attach Flowers to Beanie as desired.
