General Directions
Mosaics are slip stitch patterns worked in two colours. Colours are alternated every two rounds, therefore yarn is not cut before the end of the mosaic pattern. Every slip stitch is slipped with yarn in back (wyib) in the first round, the same stitch is slipped again on the following second round, also wyib. Each slip stitch spans two rows and is caught again with its own colour in the third row. Knitting starts at the smaller end (which will be worn near the chin), increases are done towards the endthat will bewornnear theshoulders. All odd numbers in the round descriptions and in the chart are first rows, even numbers are second rounds. To make colour changes invisible be sure to cross the two strands of yarn at the beginning of each round. The cross always happens with yarn in back .
Cast On
Wind a small ball of 6,50 m (7.1 yds) of yarn col.A and fix it with a safety pin (do not break yarn!). This will be needed later to attach a 2 sts I-cord lining. CO 99 sts using cable cast on. Slip the last stitch from right to left needle, PM to mark beginning of rounds.

I-Cord Bind Off
(col.A) Cast on 2 sts using cable cast on. \*k1 tbl, then k2tog through the back loop. Slip the two worked sts back onto the left hand needle. Then pull the working yarn tightly across the back of those 2 sts\* and repeat from \* to \*.
I-Cord Edging at the CO End
With the extra yarn, wound into a small ball at the start, an I-cord is attached at the CO end: Hold the yarn in your left hand along the WS. With your right hand poke the needle through the CO sts and pick up the yarn from the WS - pick up and knit allin one 98 sts . Then immediately the I-cord BO follows (see instructions above) Break yarn, sew in all ends, wash and dry, block to spread and level the curly edges!
