\*\*Beginning Each Round\*\*
I will not be detailing how to begin each row below. Instead, know this: If the row begins with a DC, start either with a CH3 or a “chainless starting double crochet" (which is what I prefer); either of these will count as the first DC. If the row begins with a SC, complete a CHl to begin (does not count as first SC). If the row begins with a TC, start with either a CH4 or a “chainless starting treble crochet"(also what I prefer); either of these will count as the firstTC.
\*\*Blocking Finished Centerpiece\*
To block this doily, start by pinning near the middle to stretch out the center and create the shape you want. As you work outward, try to pin every 5-7 rows or so. By the time you reach the outer row, you should have pinned about 3-4 rows. I particularly like to pin the points of the pineapples to bring out their shape. Make sure to pin every picot in the final round. Stand up and look down at the doily to make sure it is the shape you want. After pinning, use an iron to steam (do not let the iron touch the doily at all) the entire centerpiece. Make sure the doily is damp and warm. Let it sit for at least an hour until it is completely dry, and then remove the pins.
\*\*Alternate Design\*\*
Many doilies have an even number of points. This doily has nine. If you want to do eight, it is possible, but it makes it a tiny bit harder to block because the center section bows like a hat. However, I did complete the blue version used in the photos below by only doing eight SC in the first row and it did come out fine after blocking.

PATTERN
Begin with a magic circle. Row 1 = 9 SC into the magic circle. Row 2 = (DC, CH) in each SC. Join to top of beginning DC. (9 DC, CH spaces) Row 3 = (2DC, CH2) in each DC. Join to top of beginning DC. (9 CH2 spaces) = (DC once into both DC, CH4) nine times. Join to the top of beginning DC. (9 CH4 spaces) = (DC once into both DC, CH6) nine times. Join to the top of beginning DC. (9 CH6 spaces) Row 6 = (DC once into both DC, CH3, 2DC into the middle of CH6, CH3) nine times. Join to the top of beginning DC. DC2tog, CH3, DC once into both DC, CH3, 2DC into the next DC, DC into the next DC, 2 DC into the next DC, CH3, DC into the next DC. DC into the next DC but do not complete the last step of the DC; instead, begin another DC into the top of the beginning DC2tog, and then complete the last step of that DC by pulling the thread through all three loops on hook. This creates a DC2tog but stretches across the CH3 space. This also positions your hook in the right place to start the next round. Row 13 = Begin with a DC. CH6, DC once into both DC, CH5, 5DC into the next 5DC, CH5. (DC once into both DC, CH 6, DC once into both DC, CH5, 5DC into the next 5DC, CH5) eight times. DC into next DC. CH3, 7DC into next 7DC, CH3, DC once into middle of CH8, CH5, DC into the same spot, CH3, 7DC into next 7DC, CH3, DC into DC2tog, CH5. Join to the top of beginning DC. Row 20 = SLST into CH5 space. [SHELL (2DC, CH3, 2DC) into CH5 space. CH3. DC2tog using the first two DC of 7DC, DC into the next three DC, DC2tog using the last two DC of 7DC. CH3.] all the way around. Join to the top of beginning DC. Row 21 = SLST into SHELL. [(2DC, CH3, 2DC, CH3, 2DC) into SHELL. CH4. DC2tog using next two DC, DC into middle DC, DC2tog using final two DC. CH4] around. (2DC in SHELL, CH5, (SC, CH3) into seven CH1 spaces, (SC, CH5) into last CH1 space, 2DC in SHELL, CH3) around. For the very last CH3, instead do a DC into the top of beginning DC. This puts your hook at the right place to begin the next row. Row 29 = SHELL in space created by final DC of previous row. (CH5, (SC, CH3) into six CH3 loops of pineapple, (SC, CH5) into the last CH3 loop of pineapple, SHELL in CH3 space.) around. You should end with a CH5; join this to the top of beginning DC.
