patterns:
the pattern of the lace pattern holly consists of - 6 pattern blocks which can be combined in both directions and - two optional end blocks. I made a chart and written instructions for all pattern blocks (see pages 6 - 8).
advent calendar 2011:
you find a little die beside the pattern charts and written instructions. roll a die every day to find out which pattern to knit that day :) of course you can design an item without rolling the die! for inspiration see the four projects I made (read more at the end of this page).
repeats:
if you want to repeat the pattern horizontally (in one row): - knit the 2 first stitches, - repeat the ‘repeat' part of pattern (stitches 1 - 24 or between \* and \*), - end with last stitch; if you want to repeat the pattern vertically (one block over the other), knit all rows of the block repeatedly; the end blocks are optional and not meant to be repeated vertically, useend 1 blockoRend 2block cast on: e.g. 3 repeats, 1 edge stitch: number of repeats x 24 stitches 3x24 = 72 stitches + 3 stitches (2 first stitches and 1 last stitch) + 3 stitches + 2 or more stitches (edge stitches at begin and end) + 2 stitches =77stitches note: neither the chart nor the written instructions include edge stitches!
back rows:
the chart and the written instructions show only the rows on the right side, knit the stitches in the back rows as they appear (see 'symbols/abbreviations') on next page. symbols / abbreviations: see next page
