Louise is a top-down baby vest knitted in the round and almost seamless. It is available in two sizes, according to your gauge.

Row 1 (WS) : P1, K1, P8, K1, P1 Row 2-36 : Follow Chart B being careful to add stitches 3 times : at the end of row 16, you will have to cable cast on 13 st at the end of row 35, cable cast on 3 st at the end of row 37, cable cast on 6 st

Joiningithe 3 parts (Knitting flat, you are now going to join the right front to the back, beginning on a WS row, then join your left front) Join to your right front the back stitches and continue knitting them, with the 6 first and last stitches in moss stitch, purling the stitches between. Join the left front stitches, and continue knitting them, with the 12 first and 4 last stitches in moss stitch, and purling the stitches between, except the dotted ones. Body From row 38 to row 48, follow chart D Row 49 : 4 moss stitches, Purl the rest of the row, stopping 4 stitches before the end of the row. Now you will have to join the 2 fronts in order to begin knitting in the round as follows : Putting your right front over your left front (in order to have the buttonholes above the buttonband), you will have to place on the same needle the 4 first stitches and the 4 last stitches of the row (the ones in moss st.), alternating 1 st from right front, and 1 st from left front. P2tog 4 times these 8 stitches. Your fronts are now joined, turn your work, you will from now on knit in the round. Keep following Chart D until Row 58. Now that you are kniting in the round, WS rows won't be purled anymore, but knitted. Row 59 : K all st. Continue knitting in the round until the vest measures 23,5 cm (26,5 for 3-6 months) Knit 1,5 cm in moss stitch Cast off. Assembling the Straps : Pick up (without knitting) the 12 sts from provisional cast on of right front. Undo the crochet chain. Do the same with the corresponding back stitches. Close the strap using kitchener stitch. Do the same on left side. Sew the 4 buttons on, weave in ends. Wash and wet block.
