o Sommerblau - summer is blueo
This is a modified version of Elefantenkringel, designed by Irene Jumbo (yarnelefant on Ravelry.com). Special thanks to Irene who allowed me to write down my modifications for you. Please forgive any mistakes or misunderstandings, it is my first published pattern in English. Yarn: 2 skeins Katia Bombay (100 g/230 m, 100 % cotton, 24 M=4 in) or another summer yarn containing cotton, or bamboo, or silk, or... what you want ;-) A colour changing yarn would work best. (The test shawl used 140 g/ca. 350 m, final yardage depends on your gauge and needle size) Needle size: 4,5 mm (choose a needle size which gives you the drape you want) Gauge: is not crucial, but probably changes finished size of your shawl.
Abbreviations:
st stitch kknit dyo double yarn over (wind yarn 2 times around right needle) kfb knit front and back to work 1 increase k2tog knit 2 st together k2togtbl knit 2 together through back loop There are no edge stitches, just work first and last st in every row (e.g. do not slip first or last st without knitting it ) receipt from Halbe Prinzessin. Here we go:
Co 6 st (l used long tail cast on, but every other would work well) R 1: kfb, k 5 R 2: k 6, kfb R 3: kfb 1, \*1 dyo, k 1\* repeat from \* to \* R 4: k all st, drop all dyo, kfb 1 R 5: kfb 1, k to last two st, k2tog R 6: k to last st, kfb Repeat rows 3-6 as many times as you want to, (l ended with 105 st), bind off after row 5 of pattern, when shawl seems long enough (or when your shawl mojo is gone, or your skein is nearly empty): k 1, \*k1, slip both st on left needle and k2togtbl\* repeat from \* to \* to end of shawl, break yarn, weave in ends. Wash, block and enjoy your new Sommerblau :-)
