Materials:
Fingering weight yarn in color of choice Crochet hook size d ( $\left(3.25\:\mathrm{mm}\right)$ or size needed to obtain gauge Needle and thread Fabric roses (2) Ribbon
Finished Sizes:
Newborn(3-6 mos, 6-12 mos) Newborn $=3^{\circ}$ or $8\;\mathrm{{cm}}$ $3–6\;\mathrm{mos}=3.5^{\circ}$ Or $9\;\mathrm{cm}$ $6{-}12\;\mathrm{mos}=4^{\circ}$ Or $10\;\mathrm{cm}$ Gauge: Rnds 1 & 2 of toe $=1.5^{\circ}$
Toe:
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 11 dc in $2^{\mathrm{nd}}$ ch from hook. Join with sl st to $2^{\mathrm{nd}}$ ch of beg ch-3. (12 dc) Rnd 2: Ch 2, dc in same sp, 2 dc in each dc around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch-2. (24 dc) Rnds 3-5: Ch 2, dc in each dc around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch-2. Begin working in rows: Row 1: Ch 2, dc in next 17 dc. Leave remaining 6 dc unworked at top of toe. Ch 2, turn. Note: # of rows for larger sizes are given in (). Rows 2-5(6,7): Dc in each dc across. Ch 2, turn. Omit ch-2 at end of last row and fasten off.
Heel:
Row 1: Skip $1^{\mathrm{{st}}}\,6$ dc of last row of sole, join with sc in next dc, sc in next 4 dc, sc next 2 dc tog, sl st in next dc, turn. Row 2: Sc in next 5 sc, sc next 2 sts tog (meaning next sc of row 1 and next unworked dc of last row of sole), sl st in next dc, turn. Rows 3-6: Repeat row 2 until all remaining dc of last row of sole are worked off. At end of last row, ch 1, turn if necessary to ensure right side is facing. Note: If you find this type of heel too difficult, you may alternatively work 6 rows of sc over 6 centermost dc of last row of sole and then sew side seams to form heel.

Heel Loop:
Work 6 rows of sc over 6 sc at back of heel, working ch 1, turn, at end of each row. At end of last row, fold heel loop down toward inside of shoe and (working through both thicknesses) attach to base of row 1 with sl st over 6 sc. Fasten off.
Finishing:
