Crocheted spider's web - Arachne's yarnbombing
This is a basic pattern for the spider's webs that will decorate the venue of the MLF event April 13th to 14th 2013 in Villeurbanne (69), France. You can, of course, vary this basic pattern as you wish, or invent your own web. In all cases, if you want to make a contribution to this festive and wooly event that will be open for all, please send your spider's web on March 31st at the latest to : Annette Petavy Design 2 allée du Valpré 69126 BRINDAS FRANCE All colours, thicknesses and sizes are welcome. For reasons of visibility, I recommend making webs that measure at least 50 cm across. It's really quick ! Double your yarn, use a big hook, and go for it all in trebles. ABBREVIATIONS - This pattern uses US terminology ch = chain sl st = slip stitch sC = single crochet tr = treble picot = ch 3, 1 sl st in first ch PATTERN Ch 8, close to a ring with 1 sl st in first ch. Round 1: Ch 5 (count as 1 tr + 1 ch), (1 tr, ch 1) 11 times in ring, 1 sl st in 4th ch at beg of round - there are 12 tr. Round 2: Ch 9 (count as 1 tr + 5 ch), (1 tr in next tr, ch 5) 11 times, 1 sl st in 4th ch at beg of round. Round 3: Ch 11 (count as 1 tr + 7 ch), (1 tr in next tr, ch 7) 11 times, 1 sl st in 4th ch at beg of round. Round 4: Ch 13 (count as 1 tr + 9 ch), (1 tr in next tr, ch 9) 11 times, 1 sl st in 4th ch at beg of round. Round 5: Ch 15 (count as 1 tr + 11 ch), (1 tr in next tr, ch 11) 11 times, 1 sl st in 4th ch at beg of round. Continue, adding 2 ch between the tr for each round, until you have reached desired size or run out of yarn or patience. If desired, you can finish with an edging row: Ch 1 (do not count as a st), (same number of sc in next ch-space as there are chains in said ch-space, 1 picot) to end of round, 1 sl st in first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends, block if you want (it's not compulsory) and send me your web before March31st!
