Slytherin Locket (Horcrux) - Harry Potter

I used my Locket From the Cave' as a model for the crocheted version. Gauge is not important as long as you make sure the chain is a good length for you. I did not add a closure to my locket, but if you wear it much you may want to do so. My suggestion is sewing on a silver hook and eye or jump ring/lobster claw closure.
Materials:
Worsted yarn, gold and silver, 10-15 yards each Cotton thread (3) or embroidery floss, light brown, green and black, small amounts Size H hook for worsted, E hook for thread, tapestry needle
Locket (make 2):
1. With gold and H hook, chain 2. 2. 8sc in second chain from hook, do not join 3. 2sc in next 3 st, 3sc in next st, 2sc in next 3 st, 3 sc in last st. (the stitches with 3sc will be at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock on your locket, forcing a sharper point at 6 and 12 o'clock) 18sc. Switch to silver. 4. With silver and in back loops only, sc in each stitch around. 5. Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Locket front:
Don't worry about thread showing on the wrong side, we'll cover it up! 1. With light brown thread and needle, Embroider an oval just inside of remaining gold loops from round 4. (Backstitch works well) 2. With green thread and E hook, chain 12. Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing 3. Sew green chain in an "S" shape to center of locket 4. With black thread and E hook, chain 2. 5. 6sc in second chain from hook, join with a sl st 6. \*Chain 5, sl st in 4rd chain from hook, sl st in next sc\* around, join with sl st and finish off, leaving long end for sewing. 7. Carefully sew black spot to wrong side of front locket. Cover the green and brown stitches, but don't let your black stitches go through to the front of locket.
Locket Hinge:
1. With right sides together, sew front locket to back locket across 5 stitches. Use the 3 st section of round 3 to help center your 'hinge'.
Chain:
1. With right side of back locket facing, locate the two topmost stitches. Attach silver to the topmost right stitch. Chain 100 and sl st in the topmost left stitch. 2. Sl st in each chain and once more in the topmost right stitch. Finish off. Wear with pride!
