I love granny squares. theyre so quick & easy to do and can be made into a variety of different things. using any kind of yarn made to any size from keyrings and coasters to cushion covers and blankets. You can use any size crochet hook from 3mm or smaller to the really large chunky 'extreme' ones that are now available For this design I used double knit yarn in three different colours. You can use one colour or lots of colours. it's up to you. Materials needed

Start by making a granny square: Make a chain of stitches. sli stitch tojoin into a ring. Round 1: Chain 3. 2dc. ch2 into ring. \*3dc. ch2 into ring\* repeat from \* to\* two more times. With a slip stitch join to the top of the first ch3. (If changing colour cut yarn and finish off. or if using same colour slip stitch into space made by the 2ch ready for round 2). Round 2: Join the new colour into a ch2 space and ch3. 2dc. ch2. 3dc into that space. \*Chl. then in the next gap work 3dc. ch2. 3de\* repeat from \*to\* twice more. With a slip stitchjoin to the top of the first ch3. (If changing colour cut yarn and finish off. or if using same colour slip stitch into space made by the 2ch ready for round 3). Round 3: Join the new colour into a 2ch space and ch3. 2dc. ch2. 3dc in to the space. \*Chl. then in the next gap work 3dc. chl and in next gap work 3dc. 2ch. 3de\* repeat from \*to\* twice more. Then chl. 3dc in next gap. chl. With a slip stitchjoin to the top of the first ch3. To assemble
Cut two pieces of felt slightly smaller than the finished crocheted squares. Sandwich all the pieces together into a little book. then using a matching thread neatly sew through all the layers. Aftach your beads - see photo for more detail. Now you can add your needles to the felt pages.
