Bitty Bunny Beanie Knitting Pattern for Newborn, Doll, Child, and Adult Sizes with Detailed Instructions

BITTY BUNNY BEANIE

This pattern creates a doll or newborn sized hat. To make a child or adult size cap, increase the needle size as necessary. The gauge for this project is roughly 6 stitches to the inch. Materials: Ball of pink worsted weight yarn 12" black worsted weight yarn 4 double pointed needles and a crochet hook of the same size. I used around size3. Tapestry needle Skills: Casting on Knitting in the round on DPNs Purling Working with multiple colors Picking up stitches Casting off Cap: Cast on 20 stitches on each of three needles. Join work, and work 15 rows in stockinette stitch To create the nose, purl 1 stitch on row 16, 3 on row 17, and 5 on row 18, in the following pattern, where x in knit and O is purl: x00000x xx000xx xxxOxxx Work 6 more rows of stockinette stitch. Cut the strand of black in half. Spacing them equally on each side of the nose, knit two stitches in black. On the next row, knit two more, creating a 2x2 square for the eyes. Beginning at row 22, knit 2 together at the center of each needle, and repeat for every round. Beginning at row 27, knit 2 together at the left end of each row. Repeat this every round as Well. At row 36, knit 2 together, knit 1, while keeping the pattern created by steps 6&7. With 2 stitches left on each needle, bind off and weave in ends. If there is a gap at the center, use the tail from the bind of to sew it shut. Ears: pick up 8 stitches on each side of the crown, evenly spaced. Knit 1st row, with the face facing you. Row 2: knit 2, purl 4, knit 2. Repeat 2 &3 for 26 rows. Keeping the knit/purl pattern, decrease from the center on a wrong side row (purl 2 together). Switch to garter stitch, continuing to decrease from the center on wrong side rows, but using knit 2 together. Cast off when there are 3 stitches left total. Bind off and tuck in ends.
