Crochet Pumpkin pattern

Supplies needed; Worsted yarn scraps Polyfill, wool batting, or other filler Size H crochet hook Yarn needle Gage is not important. Just keep consistent through out.

Pumpkin Recipe

The pumpkin is worked in the round. Make Sure to mark the beginning of the round with a stitch marker. With orange yarn:

Beginning and Making your Pumpkin Fat

Rnd 1: ch 2, 11 dc in 2nd ch from hook. Join w/ sl st Rnd 2, Ch 3. Counts as first dc now and through out. Fpdc in the same stitch, bpdc in the next stitch. Each row you will do a bpdc in the bpdc of the previous round to give the pumpkin it's indented stripes. (Make two fpdc in the next stitch bpdc in the next stitch) five times sl st to join the round. (18 dc total) Rnd 3: Ch 3 Fpdc in the same stitch, two fpdc in the next stitch, bpdc in the next stitch, (two fpdc in the next two stitches and bpdc in the next stitch) five times. SI st in the beginning chain three to join the round (30 dc total) Rnd 4: : Ch 3 Fpdc in the same stitch, fpdc in the next two stitches, two fpdc in the next stitch, bpdc in the next stitch, (two fpdc in the next stitch, fpdc in the next two stitches, two fpdc in the next stitch and bpdc in the next stitch ) five times. Sl st in the beginning chain three to join the round (42 dc total) Rnd 5: Ch 3 Fpdc in the same stitch, fpdc in the next four stitches, two fpdc in the next stitch, bpdc in the next stitch, (two fpdc in the next stitch, fpdc in the next four stitches, two fpdc in the next stitch and bpdc in the next stitch ) five times. Sl st in the beginning chain three to join the round (54 dc total) For the tiny pumpkin stop increasing here, for the medium pumpkin increase one more round and for the big pumpkin increase two more rounds. Rnd 6: Ch 3 Fpdc in the same stitch, fpdc in the next 6ix stitches, two fpdc in the next stitch, bpdc in the next stitch, (two fpdc in the next stitch, fpdc in the next six stitches, two fpdc in the next stitch and bpdc in the next stitch ) five times. Sl st in the beginning chain three to join the round. Rnd 7: Ch 3 Fpdc in the same stitch, fpdc in the next eight stitches, two fpdc in the next stitch, bpdc in the next stitch, (two fpdc in the next stitch, fpdc in the next eight stitches, two fpdc in the next stitch and bpdc in the next stitch ) five times. SI st in the beginning chain three to join the round.

Making your Pumpkin Tall

Ch 3, Fpdc in all fpdc of the previous round and bpdc in all bpdc of the previous round. For the small you will do the making tall round five times, for the medium you will do the making tall round seven times, and for the large you will do the making tll round 9 times. Decreasing Rounds DRnd 1: Ch 3, Fpdc dec over the next two sts, fpdc in the next 2 (2,6) stitches, Fpdc dec over the next two sts, bpdc in the next stitch, (Fpdc dec over the next two sts, fpdc in the next 2 (2,6) stitches, Fpdc dec over the next two sts, bpdc in the next stitch ) five times. SI st in the beginning chain three to join the round. DRnd 2: Continue doing a fpdc in the first and last fpdc of each segment and a bpdc in each bpdc Last DRnd: Ch3 (fpdc dec over the next two sts, bpdc in the next post) 6 times, sl st in the beginning ch 3 to join round. Finish off leaving a long tail. Thread with a yarn needle sew the bottom shut then sew to the top and back down to the bottom two times to make it more pumpkin shaped. Finish off.

Stem

Using brown yarn For the small pumpkin, attach with a sl st around on of the fpdc from rnd 2 sc in each of the six fpdc on from rnd 2, join with a sl st, sc around three more times, bind off sew shut. For a larger pumpkin, attach with a sl st around on of the fpdc from rnd 2 ch 1, (dc in the next fpdc, ch 1) around Rnd 2: Ch 2, (fpdc in the next st, bpdc around the next st) around Rnd 3 and 4: repeat round 2 Stuff and sew shut Vine Using green yarn Make a chain about 15 ch long, or how ever long you want, sc in the second ch from hook and in all the other chains. It will curl on its own. Sew this to you pumpkin. There are many different ways you can make your pumpkin one you get the hang of it. You can make them tall and skinny, fat and round, or even pear shaped. It's all up to your imagination. That is why I call this a recipe.
