Sea of blossoms mat

Material: Woll Butt Sonja, fingering yarn, 187 yards (171 meters) per 50 grams (1.76 ounces), 100% Cotton, machine wash, scraps in four different colors (or as many colors as you like) Crochet hook 3.5 mm (US E-4) Finished Measurement: one blossom measures approx. 5 cm (2 inch) in diameter, the finished mat measures 33 cm (13 inch) in diameter
The blossoms
Ch 6 and ss into 6th ch from hook to form a ring. Leave a long tail. Ch 1, work 12 sc in ring, join with sl in first sc (= 12 sc) Ch 3 (equals 1dc), 1 dc in same stitch, 2 dc in each stitch around (= 24 dc). Ss into the top of the first ch3. Ch 3 (equals 1 dc), 1 hdc and 1 sc in next stitch, 1 ss in next stitch [1 sc and 1hdc in next stitch, 2 dc in next stitch, 1 hdc and 1 sc in next stitch, 1 ss in next stitch] x 5. 1 sc and 1hdc in next stitch, 1 dc into the same stitch as the first ch3. Ss into the top of the first ch3. Finish off and leave a long tail, DO NOT weave in the ends. Make 31 blossoms in different colors to your liking. I made 9 in green, 6 in pale blue, 6 in lilac, and 10 in turquoise.
The mat
Use the first photograph above to place the single blossoms. Each blossom is fastened to the next by simply drawing a tail two times through two blossoms simulaneously (see photograph below), right sides facing. Do not weave in ends as you go, you might need them again to fasten the blossom in the next outer round.

Weave in ends and block and/or iron.
