Hints:
German short row (xxx): Stitch the right needle into the loop like a purl stitch. Slip the loop to the right needle. Put the thread over the needle to the rear and pull a little bit. The loop will turn and looks like two stitches. When overknit this stitch, pick up both loops like k2tog (or p2tog). Decreases at the legs: before knit - purl k2tog and behind knit- purl SSK. Work 4 dec. per row. Crochet Cast on: Make a loop to the yarn and hang it on the hook of your crochet hook. Hold the yarn like you would knit or crochet. Put yout knitting needle onto the thread, take the thread with the crochet hook and slip it through the loop. Wrap the yarn counterclockwise around the knitting needle, take the thread with the crochet hook and slip it through the loop. Reapeat until 1 stitch before the last one. Hang on the last loop from the crochet hook onto the knitting needle as the last stitch you will need.
How to do:
Take your 40 " circulair needle and cast on 240 st. Place stitch markers after 15, 20, 50, 20, 15 st. Place a different marker now for the front middle, then after 15, 20, 50, 20, 15 stitches. Place the 2nd different marker for the rear middle. Close to round and be sure to not turn the stitches. \*\*\*k 2; p4\*\*\* repeat until the last 2 st, p 2. Repeat 1 row. 3rd row: YO; SSK; k1 - repeat until the end of row. Now repeat k2; p4 as you worked before about 4 inches (10 cm). You are at the rear middle now (end of row). Work now forward and turn, even short rows, especially German short rows. Work the stitches as you see them. 10 st. - turn - xxx - 19 st. - turn - xxx - 29 st .. repeat wih this system until 60 st to each side (120 stitches total. When working over the xxx take both loops and knit together. The last row will be the first round again. Right side is outer side now, wrong side is inner side. You are a the rear middle again. Attention! The pattern begins here. k 15; (st.marker), k 2, p4 [k2] over 20 st; (st.marker), k 50; k 2, p4 [k2] over 20 st; (st.marker), k 15; (st.marker), k 15; (st.marker), k 2, p4 [k2] over 20 st; (st.marker), k 50; k 2, p4 [k2] over 20 st; (st.marker), 15 You may work the whole leggings with this pattern. After 6 inch (15 cm) total (measure at the front middle) begin with increases: 6 st before and behind the front and rear middle stitch markers M1R = 4 st each row. Repeat every 7th row, 6 times = 7 increases / 27 st = 268 st total. Measure the front high again. When you've reached 14 inches (front middle) total, divide your knitting. 12 st. before and 12 behind the rear middle will change together to one DPN. Make sure to don't lose the stitches. Take 110 st to the 1st 24 ” circulair needle, from the other side 110 st to the 2nd 24 " circulair needle and the last 24 st (12 before and 12 behind the front middle stitch marker) to a stitch holder. Turn to the rear middle and work 4 % " (12 cm) in stockinette stitch. Slip the 1st stitch like purl and k the last stitch. You may work with a 2nd Dpn. Now you can start working the legs. You got 110 st onto the circulair needle and a gusset between. You count 140 st each. Know knit again in rounds: 10 rows one leg, 10 rows the second leg. This system will guarantee two similar legs. Or you change to Dpns when you got 80 st ( 20 st each Dpn) and repeat the dec until the wide and length you need. 15 rows k1; p1 and cast off (bind off) Pull your elastic band through the holes around the waist. Sew the ends together. Always keep your lower body warm.
