Crochet Pattern for a Child's Blue Ninja Turtle Hat with Detailed Instructions and Materials

Childs Blue Ninja Turtle Crochet Pattern

I received a request from a friend for Ninja Turtle hats for her Nephews. This pattern is for a child (7) year old. I also have one for a child (3) year old.

Size: Toddler

Materials:

I just used what I had in my yarn collection I used a worsted weight yarn. I use mostly Red Heart Super Saver yarn. They seem to have all the colors under the moon for a great price. I used a dark Green, White and Blue Size H/8 - 5.00 Hook Size G Hook - This is for the Eyes Tapestry Needle (2) Black Buttons for Eyes Black Sewing Thread and Needle

Abbreviations:

Magic Ring ST= Stitch SC= Single Crochet DC = Double Crochet HDC= Half Double Crochet TC = Triple Crochet

Child Blue Ninja Turtle:

Starting with the GREEN Color Yarn

Magic Ring, CH 2, 9 DC in magic ring, join to first DC, chain 2 Round 2: 2 DC in each stitch all the way around, join, CH 2 Round 3: 2 DC in first stitch, single DC in next stitch, repeat around, join, CH 2 Round 4: 2 DC in first stitch, single DC in next 2 stiches, repeat around, join, CH 2 Round 5: 2 DC in first stitch, single DC in the next 3 stitches, repeat around, join, CH 2 Round 6: 2 DC in first stitch, single DC in the next 4 stitches, join, CH 2 Round 7: DC around, join, CH 2 (I made mine a bit bigger so this row I did 2 DC in first stitch and then 1 DC in the next 5 stitches and repeated all around. Up to you how big you want your hat)

Change color to your RED yarn

Round 8: 2 DC in first stitch, single DC in the next 8 stitches, repeat around, join, CH2 Round 9: 2 DC in first stitch, Single DC in next 29 stitches, repeat around, join, CH 2 Round 10: : DC in each stitch around, join, CH 2

Change color back to GREEN

Round 11-14: DC in each stitch around, join, fasten off and weave in ends

Earflap Pattern (1):

Count 12 stitches from the seam of the hat and attach yarn Row 1: stitch 12 SC across, CH 1 and turn Row 2: HDC across, CH 1 and turn (12) Row 3: HDC Decrease, 8 HDC, HDC Decrease, CH 1 Turn Row 4: HDC Across, CH 1, turn (10) Row 5: HDC Decrease, 6 HDC, HDC Decrease, CH 1, turn Row 6: HDC Across, CH1, Turn (8) Row 7: HDC Decrease, 4 HDC, HDC Decrease, CH 1, turn Row 8: HDC Across, CH 1, Turn (6) Row 9: HDC Decrease, 2 HDC, HDC Decrease, CH 1, turn Row 10: HDC Decrease, HDC Decreaese, CH 1, turn Row 11: HDC Decrease, fasten off and weave in ends

Straps Pattern: Make (2)

Chain31 Row 1: HDC in second chain from hook, HDC Across CH 1, turn (30) Row 2-3: HDC ACross (30) Now you will continue with SC around 2 edges only. (See Picture below) Attach to the back of the hat at the seam

Eye Pattern: Make (2) With wHITE yarn

Make Magic ring, CH 1, 10 HDC in ring, join, CH 1 Round 2: HDC in first 5 stitches, 2 DC in next 2 stiches, 2 TC in next stitch, 2 DC in next stitch, 2 HDC in last stich, join Fasten off and weave in ends. Leave long tail to sew to hat edle and thread and sewed the button to the eye and then the whole eye to the hat

Braids:

I cut 10 pieces of yarn that were 36" long. Weaved them through the bottom of the Earlap and braided them. Made a good tight not at the end and cut off access yarn All Done! I hope you enjoy it. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Thank you again Kat
