Bittas Limahat Design: Bitta Mikkelborg
This hat has the same cable pattern as Bittas Mittens and Vistes Wristies. It is made for Drops Lima. Specifications for Drops Lima (found on Ravelry): Weight: DK / 8 ply (11 wpi) Yardage: 98 yards (90 meters) Unit weight: 50 grams (1.76 ounces) Gauge: 17.0 to 21.0 sts = 4 inches Needle size: US 3 - 6 or 3.25 - 4mm Fibers: 65% Wool, 35% Alpaca Texture: plied My hat is knitted in Drops Lima, on 40 cm's circular needles 3.5 and 4 mm. Other yarn may be used; use your own experience in knitting and choose for yourself. The hat is very stretchy, and will fit well in different yarns.

(On this picture I have knitted the ribbing longer than suggested in the pattern. Choose for yourself how long rib you want.)
Hat:
With smaller needles; cast on 105 stitches and join for knitting in round. Be careful not to twist. Knit following chart 1 for the rib. Chart 1 is to be knitted from right to left, 5 times pr. round. Chart 1

Change to larger circular needle, and continue knitting following chart 2. Increase 15 stitches on first round, in parts with only 3 knitted stitches in chart 1. Increase like this: k1, M1, k2. Increasing tutorial video here. Chart 2 is to be knitted from right to left, 5 times pr round. Knit round 1 - 13, then round 2 - 13 in the continuation. Knit until the hat measures 18 cm (ending with round 13). Now knit further with decreases shown in chart 2 from round 14 and further (from the red line). Follow the chart carefully, and when you're finished with round 27, knit 2 stitches together all way through round. (There will be 1 single stitch left, but that is not important.) Cut the yarn and pull through the last stitches. Weave in the end.

Hat:
With the smallest suggested needle (40 cm circular needle); cast on 92 stitches. Join for knitting in the round, be careful not to twist. \*K2, p2, repeat from \* through round. Knit the rib for as long as you like. I suggest 3 - 4 cm ribbing if you don't want a folded ribbing. Knit 6 - 7 cm if you prefer a longer rib which can be folded. Change to larger circular needle (40 cm), and continue knitting following chart. Increase to 104 stitches on first round evenly. The chart is to be knitted from right to left, 4 times pr round. Knit round 1 - 15, then round 4 - 15 in the continuation. Knit until the hat measures 16 cm from lower edge. If you want the ribbing to be folded, then fold it before measuring. End with round 15. Now knit further with decreases shown in the chart from round 16 and further (from the red line). Follow the chart carefully, and when you're finished with round 31; cut the yarn and pull through the last 12 stitches. Weave in the end.
