Toilet Paper Cover

I originally designed this little toilet paper cover after my mom asked me to make one for her for Christmas. I originally came up with the “simple" ending, but hubby thought I needed to jazz it up, and thus the “frilly" version was made. I am including both endings for you to choose from. The simple version uses only one ounce of yarn & the frilly version about 1.5 (shown here with frills). Anastaciaknits / anastaciaknits@verizon.net July 2010 Materials: Approximately 1-1.5 oz / 25-50 grams of worsted weight acrylic yarn oSize H crochet hook or size to get gauge OYarnNeedle Gauge: First 8 rounds measure 4.25" across. 2 V stitches measure 1.75" Special Stitches: Beg V St: Ch 4 (counts as 1st dc & ch 1 sp), dc in same sp V St: Dc, ch 1, dc in sp specified. Pattern: Work in continuous rounds until otherwise stated. Do not turn. Rnd 1: Starting at top of cover, ch 2. Mark beginning of round (move marker as you begin each round), 6 sc into $1^{\mathrm{st}}$ chspace. Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around: 12 sc. Rnd 3: 3: 2 sc in $1^{\mathrm{\,st}}$ sC, 1 sc in next sc, rep around: 18 sc. Rnd 4. 2 sc in $1^{\mathrm{\,st}}$ sC, 1 sc in next 2 sc, rep around: 24 sc. Rnd 9. sc in each sc around in back loop only, sl st in first sc to finish round: 48 sc. Rnd 10: Begin V stitch pattern: Beg V St (ch 4, dc in same Sp), \* Skip 2 sc, V st (dc, ch 1, dc) in next sc. Continue from \* around, and join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 4: 16 V sts made. Rnds 11-15: Sl st into 1st ch 1 sp; work beg V st in first sp & then continue to work V sts in each V st around, and sl st in $3^{\lceil{\mathsf{d}}}$ ch of beg ch-4.

Decide which edging you prefer, simple or frilled, and work one of the following options: Simple Edging (shown on left): Work 1 sc in each dc and ch around: 48 sc. End off, weave in ends. Frilled Edging Rnd 1: Sl st into $1^{\mathrm{st}}$ ch 1 sp. Ch 4 (counts as first dc & ch 1 space), dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc (all in one sp). \* In next ch 1 sp, (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc), and repeat from across round: 64 dc. Rnd 2: Sl st into $1^{\mathrm{st}}$ ch 1 sp, ch 4, dc in same sp. [Ch 1, (dc, ch 1, tr, ch 1, dc) in next ch 1 sp. Ch 1, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch 1 sp.] Rep within brackets across final round. Sl st final stitch, and finish off. Weave in ends.
