Fiesta Bib
By Bart Larsen (Ravelry - Astropc)

Description: This bib is shaped like a pie about 10 inches in diameer, cut into 8 pieces with one of the pieces removed (for the baby's neck). It is built from the outside in with decreases evenly spaced at each edge and through the "pie" defining the 7 triangular shaped pieces. There are 3 stages: 1 - The bobble cast on; 2 - The stockinette portion and 3 - The I-cord strap and bind off. Materials: 100 yards of worsted weight cotton yarn (Il used Sugar n Cream by Bernat) and US #6 (4mm)needles. Double pointed needles are also needed for I-cord. Size and gauge is realy not important so feel free to use smaller or larger needles if you knit loose or tight.

Knit the 5 stitches. Now, one at a time, slip the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th stitches on the right needle over the 1st stitch and off the needle. This leaves one stitch with the little bobble hanging from it. The work should be facing you, carefully push the bobble forward while working the next stitch. |

I-Cord:
Using DPNs, cast on 3 stitches. Turn so last worked stitch is on left end of left needle and slide the stitches to the right. Pull yarn behind work and knit across the 3 stitches normally (right to left) \*Stitches are now on the Right needle. Without turning work, slide the stitches to right end of right needle, and without turning, take right needle in left hand (this now becomes the left needle.) Pull yarn behind work and knit across the 3 stitches normally (right to left). Repeat from \* until cord measures 8 to10 inches. oful to give the cord a little downward yank as you progress to help it keep its shape Now you're going to join the I-Cord to the bib. After you finish a row, slip the left end of the left needle into the 1st stitch of row 6 from the bib. This should be the right side of the bib, just above the garter stitch row.

Slide the 4 stitches to the right and knit the first 2 stitches of the I-Cord as usual. When you come to the 3'd stitch, do a SSK using the 3rd stitch from the I-Cord and the picked up stitch from the bib.

Pick up the 1st stitch from the 7th row of the bib (actually it's the last stitch since it was worked backwards on the wrong side) and again, slide the 4 stitches to the right end of the needle as normal, as before, knit the first 2, then SSK the 3'd stitch along with the stitch from the bib. Continue in this manner, picking up one stitch from each row as you go. When you get to the center of the bib, just pick up the live stitches from the stitch holder - one at a time. After you finish the 8 live stitches continue down the other side of the bib until you get to the garter row. Finally, continue just knitting a 3 stitch I-Cord in the normal way for 8 to 10 inches until it matches the other side. Weave in ends and put bib on a baby.
Optional Different color bobble
You must use circular needles. Row 2: Change to 2nd color and knit bobble row (DO NOT CUT MAIN COLOR YARN - just leave it hanging.) Row 3: Slide the work to the other end of the needles so you are ready to work from the right side again. (no knitting) Row 4 and beyond: Pick up the main color yarn you left hanging and continue with the pattern.
