Making the Coaster
Finished coaster should be approx. 4" (10cm) square.
Ch 18 (pattern works in multiples of 3 + 3 for foundation chain)
Row 1: Work 1hdc, 1dc into third stitch from the hook. \*Skip 2 ch. Work 1sc, 1hdc, 1dc into the next ch. Repeat from\* untill last three ch. Skip 2ch, sc into last ch. Ch1, turn. Row 2-10 : Work 1hdc, 1dc into first st. \*Skip the next 1dc and 1hdc from last row; Work 1sc, 1hdc, 1dc into next sc. Repeat from\* until last three sts. Skip 1dc and 1hdc; Sc into top of last rows turning chain. Ch 1, turn.
Border:
After row 10, ch 1 and begin going around the sides of the square you have made. Sc evenly 11 stitches for each side, with one extra in the corner (total of 12 each side). When completely around sl st into first sc. Ch 3. (counts as 1st dc) 0 each sc with 3dc in each corner. Sl st into top of turning chain. F
Making the Placemat
Ch 78 (pattern works in multiples of 3 + 3 for foundation chain)
