by Cirsium Crochet

Materials:
G Hook/4.25 mm DK/#3 weight yarn (I used Caron Spa, 3 skeins) @1,000 yds Finished size is about 62"X 20"
Special Stitches:
Beginning Bobble- ch3, (yarn over, insert hook in stitch indicated, yarn over, pull up a loop) four times, yarn over, pull through all 9 loops, ch 1 tightly to secure. Bobble- (yarn over, insert hook in stitch indicated, yarn over, pullup a loop) five times, yarn over, pullthrough all 11 loops, ch 1 tightly to secure.
Notes:
Shawl is worked from the center outward in rows, and the edging is worked in rounds. Abbreviations: This pattern uses US terminology ch= chain stitch Sl= slip stitch Sk= skip Sc= US single crochet stitch Dc= US double crochet stitch Yo= yarn over Ch-sp= chain space Picot= chain 3, slip stitch into top of sc
Center Panel
Chain 67 (I recommend using a regular chain instead of fsc, so when you work into the other side, it makes a less noticeable line.) To make the shawl wider, you'll need to increase the foundation chain in increments of 32 + a turning chain of 3. So a scarf would be 32+3=35 chains; This shawl is 64+3=67 chains; A wider shawl would be 96+3=99--- continue in such a manner until desired width is achieved. Row 1. Work (dc, ch2, dc, ch2, dc) in 7t chain from hook (this gives the correct height and distance to count as a dc, skip 3 sts), sk three chs, dc in next ch, [sk three chs and (dc, ch2, dc, ch2, dc) in next chain, sk three chs, dc in next chl repeat across, ending with single dc in last ch. Turn. Row 2. Ch 5 (counts as dc, ch2), dc in first dc, [sk next dc, dc in next (center) dc, sk next dc, (dc, ch2, dc, ch2, dc) in next dcl repeat across, ending with (dc, ch2, dc) in last dc. Turn. Row 3. Ch 3, [sk next dc, (dc, ch2, dc, ch2, dc) in next dc, sk next dc, dc in next de] repeat across, ending with dc in last dc. Turn. Rows 4-53. Repeat Rows 2-3 for pattern. End Row 3. Fasten off.

Turn piece so that you're working into the other side of the foundation chain, and join with a slip stitch. To minimize the gap that may occur with a stretched chain, work directly into the bottom of the stitches on row 1. To make the seam less noticeable, the second half begins with pattern Row 2. Row 1. Ch 5, dc in same ch (counts as dc, ch2),[sk next 3 chs, dc in next st, sk next 3 chs, (dc, ch2, dc, ch2, dc) in next st] repeat across, ending with (dc, ch2, dc) in last st. Rows 2 Repeat Pattern Row 3 Rows 3-54 Repeat Pattern Rows 2-3, ending after a Row 3. 107 total rows for center panel. Do not fasten off. Edging is worked over a multiple of 5 end spaces + 2 on the long edges. So if you desire a longer shawl, continue to add rows in increments of 5 to the number of center panel rows. Pattern gives 107 rows for center panel-so you'd do 112, 117, 122, etc... to make a longer shawl. Reduced sample of second half of center panel
