Perfectly Pooled Hat
There are few things more satisfying than getting a beautiful skein of variegated yarn and then having it work up into exactly the pattern you hoped it would. This pattern is written for Three Irish Girls' StevenBe exclusive color, Care Bear Stare.
MATERIALS
1 skein Three Irish Girls Springvale Worsted (1oo% superwash merino; 100g; 205 yd; shown in StevenBe exclusive Care Bear Stare) US 7, 16" circular needle US 8, 16" circular needle US 8 double pointed needles Stitch marker Tapestry needle Pom pom maker GAUGE 4.5 sts/1" in stockinette on US 8
PATTERN NOTES pm: place marker k2tog: knit two together 2x2 rib: (k2, p2) repeat to end of round.
PATTERN
Using US 7 circular needle, cast on 8o sts. Work 2x2 rib for 6 rounds. Switch to US 8 circular needle and knit until hat measures 6" from cast on edge. Decrease rounds (switching to double pointed needles when appropriate): Round 1: (k14, k2tog) repeat to end of round. Round 2: k around. Round 3: (k13, k2tog) repeat to end of round. Round 4: k around. Round 5: (k12, k2tog) repeat to end of round. Round 6: k around. Round 7: (k11, k2tog) repeat to end of round. FINISHING
Break the yarn, leaving a 6" tail. Thread the tail through the remaining stitches and pull it tight. Weave in your ends and wear your hat with the kind of joy that only perfectly pooled rainbows can supply.
