Work 6 rows of Lace pattern across all stitches 5 (6, 7)times, end by knitting last wrong side row 6, rather than purling. Next right side row: BO 1/3 of pattern stitches: 16 (24, 32), K remaining stitches: 33 (49/65), on wrong side, bind off 1/3 of stitches 16 (24, 32). Working only on center stitches, knit all rows until equal the length of the 2 bound off sides: approx 28 (48, 66) rows, then bind off. Working from the inside of bonnet, sew sides down to edges of center back section using a whipstitch in edges of garter stitches. With right side facing, pick up 49 (73, 97) along neck edge of bonnet. Next 3 rows: K1, P1 across all stitches. Eyeletrow: K1, (YO, K2tog) across all stitches Knit 3 more rows rib (K1, P1), then bind off in pattern on wrong side. Use a ribbon, braid or crocheted chain for a tie, but never leave a baby unsupervised with a tied on bonnet.
