12-24 month Paw Pals Mittens

Abbreviations
ch - chain sC - single chain st(s) - stitch(es) sc2tog - single chain 2 together sl st - slip stitch Fphdc - front post half double crochet Bphdc - back post half double crochet
Gauge
Gauge: 4 sc = 1"; 5 sc rows = 1"
Sizing
Finished measurements are 5.5 inches from top to bottom of cuff and 3 inches wide. Thumb measures 1.75 inches.
Pattern Notes
ttens are worked in the round from the top down - fingers to cuff Thumb is worked separately from mitten and then sewn on with a whip stitch.

Mitten Body (make two)
Round One - With contrast colour, Ch 5. Working in top loops, sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in next two sts, 2sc in next; working around other side of starting chain, sc in next 2 sts, sc in last st. (8) Round Two - continuing around, work 2sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts, 2sc, sc in next three. (10) Round Three - 2sc, sc in next 4 sts, 2sc, sc in next 3 sts, switch to main colour, sc. (12) Round Four - 2sc, sc in next 5 sts, 2sc, sc in next 5 sts. (14) Round Five - 2sc, sc in next 6 sts, 2sc, sc in next 6 sts. (16) Round Six - 2sc, sc in next 7 sts, 2sc, sc in next 7 sts. (18) Round Seven - 2sc, sc in next 8 sts, 2sc, sc in next 8 sts. (20) Round Eight - 2sc, sc in next 9 sts, 2sc, sc in next 9 sts. (22) Round Nine-Twelve - sc around. (22) Round Thirteen - Sc in next 4 sts, ch 3, skip 3 sts, sc in next 15 sts. (19) Round Fourteen - Sc in next 4 sts, sc 3 in chain space, sc in next 15 sts. (22) Round Fifteen - sc around. (22) Round Sixteen - sc in 9 sts, sc2tog, sc in 9 sts, sc2tog. (20) Round Seventeen - sc in 8 sts, sc2tog, sc in 8 sts, sc2tog. (18) Round Eighteen - sc around. sl st into first sc of round, ch 1. (18) Round Nineteen-Twenty Two - fphdc, bphdc, repeat around. (9fphdc, 9bp Sc in next st, sl st in next. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Thumb (Make Two)
Round One - ch 2, sc 4 times in 2nd ch from hook. (4) Round Two - (2sc, sc) two times. (6) Round Three - (2sc, sc in next 2 sts) two times. (8) Round Four-Seven - sc around. (8) Round Eight - sc into next 4 sts, sl st into next. (4) Leave long tail for whip stitching thumb onto mitten.

Frog Features
Outer Eye (make four) With green: Using a magic loop, 8 hdc in loop, tighten but do not join to first hdc. Leave tail for sewing onto mitten

Inner Eye (make four)
With white: Using a magic loop, 6sc in loop, join in circle and tighten. Leave tail to attach to green part of eye. With black yarn create a pupil on the white part of the eye and securely weave ends. This part is easier to do before sewing the white and green parts together. Sew the white onto the green part of the eye going just under the front of the stitches, you don't want the white to show through the back part of the eye. Attach eyes to mitten

Tongue
With red yarn, sc6. Dc in 3'd ch from hook, sc in next 3 sts. Leave tail for sewing onto mitten. Sew tongue onto thumb where it joins mitten

Pointed Ears (make 2):
Ch 4. Sc in 2nd chain from hook, hdc in next, dc in next. Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing. (3)
Rounded Ears (make 2):
; times in 2nd chain from hook, sl st into 1"t sc of round. Fasten of leaving a tail for sewing. (5) Using a small amount of black, sew on nose and eye features.
