A Cardigan for Bjorn

Materials:
Sensations "Bamboo and Ewe" or comparable light fingering, 3-ply yarn Yarnneedle
Gauge: 7 st/inch
Instructions:
CO 52. Knit 6 rows in garter st (k every row). Work in stockinette until piece measures between 2 and 3" from beginning, ending with a WS row. (For a more cropped sweater, make it shorter, for a longer sweater, make it longer. The sweater in the picture was 2".). Knit 40, put remaining 12 stitches on a holder. BO 2, p 25, place remaining 12 stitches on a holder. BO 2 at beginning of next row. Work in stockinette for 10 more rows and bind off these stitches. These stitches will be the back of the sweater. For each front side, join yarn, bind off 2 stitches at armhole edge. Work in stockinette for 10 rows and decrease 1 stitch (by k2tog) on every RS row at front edge. At the end of the 10 rows you should have 5 stitches. Bind off. Your finished piece should look like this:

Seam front to back at shoulder edges. Pick up and knit 58 stitches, starting at the bottom front edge of the left front piece, working up to the shoulder, along the top edge of the. back, and down the front of the right side. Knit these stitches every row for 6 rows. Bind off loosely. Weave in ends.

Knit 6 rows in garter st (k every row) Switch to stockinette st and work until piece measures 1.5" from edge, ending with a WS row. BO 2 st at beginning of next 2 rows. Work 2 rows in stockinette. Next row (RS): k1, k2tog, k to last 3 st, k2tog, k1 Next row (WS): p1, p2tog, p to last 3 st, p2tog, p1 Repeat these 2 rows 3 more times. There should be 5 stitches remaining. Bind off. Foid sleeve in half, wrong side out, and seam from cuff to underarm. Turn sleeve right side out and seam to body of sweater, matching the sleeve seam to the underarm. Weave in ends.
