BABYKNITS PATTERN:
Gartered Baby Bibs w/ Contrast Button
Simple and useful, these baby bibs are nice and stretchy when your little one likes to pull on things! My nephew, Elli, loves his Gartered Baby Bibs. It's best to knit your bibs with a super wash yarn so that all you mums out there have the option of throwing it into the wash (make sure it's in the delicates bag). Any DK (double-knitting) weight yarn will do - if you choose to use a heavier weight, the bib will be slightly bigger. These bibs are sizable with 2 button holes for 3 - 9 month olds.
Materials:
1 skein Debbie Bliss Rialto DK (100% Superwash Merino Wool) 20 sts & 21 rows / 4 inches in Garter Stitch 4.00 mm straight or circular needles Button (1 " wide) - contrast colour TapestryNeedle WasteYarn ① Handmade By Sylvie
Stitch Dictionary:
CO -cast on BO -bind off K-knit PSSO - pass slip stitch over RS - right side WS - wrong side
Instructions:
Cast on 32 stitches on needles.
Rows 1 to 52: K all stitches (end on WS) You should be able to count 28 ridges from the garter stitch pattern, end on Ws. Row 53 (RS): BO 24 sts (8 sts remaining) Rows 54 to 84: K all stitches (end on WS) Row 85: Make a one row buttonhole over 3 stitches on Ws. K2. To reinforce, bring yarn to front, slip next st purl wise, bring yarn to back. Begin 3-stitch BO - slip next stitch, psso, slip next stitch, psso, slip next stitch, pss0 Place last stitch onto left needle. Turn work around. Bring yarn to back. CO 4 stitches with cable cast on method - place right needle between first two stitches on left needle, pull yarn through and place it back on the left needle. Repeat 3 more times. Turn work around, RS facing. Yarn in back. To reinforce, slip the 1st stitch on left needle to right side. Pass over the cast on stitch over the left stitch. Rows 86 -91: K all stitches Row 92: Repeat Row 83 Rows 93 - 94: K all stitches Row 95: B0
