Minecraft-Inspired Knitting Project: Create a Steve and Creeper Themed Hat

Minecraft Inspired Hat

a project using: Minecraft, Steve, Creeper Charts

Yarn: Worsted Weight (this hat above, I used "Uptown" by Universal Yarns.) I had black as a MAIN color, and neon green as my Creeper color. Use colors that are appropriate to the character that you choose (Steve, Skeleton, Endermen, Zombie, or Creeper). Needles: US #7 (4.5mm) Gauge: 20 stitches by 24 rows = 4 inches 0r 10 cm I knit the hat flat and seam it up. The charts are found: “Minecraft, Steve, Creeper Charts", on Ravelry.

Main part of hat

Cast on 92 stitches. Rows 1-8: Knit 2, Purl 2 rib. Row 9: knit Row 10: purl Row 11: Knit 2 Main Color, start chart ( knit 8 stitches in different color), continue Knit 2, Knit 8 the whole row, ending with two Main color stitches. Rows 12-18: complete knitting chart. Knit until hat measures 6-1/2"or 17 cm, ending with a wrong/purl side row.

Shaping the crown

Row 1: (Knit Side) decrease 4 stitches fairly evenly throughout row by knit 2 together. (Stitches 2 & 3, 29 & 30, 58 & 59, 90 & 91). 88 stitches on the needles. Row 2 (and all other even rows): Purl Row 3: Knit 6, knit 2 together, follow pattern the entire row. Row 5: Knit 5, knit 2 together, follow pattern the entire row. Row 7: Knit 4, knit 2 together, follow pattern the entire row. Row 9: Knit 3, knit 2 together, follow pattern the entire row. Row 11: Knit 2, knit 2 together, follow pattern the entire row. Row 13: Knit 1, knit 2 together, follow pattern the entire row. Row 14: Purl 2 together, follow pattern the entire row. Row 15: Knit 2 together until 8-6 stitches remain. Cut a 14"/ 36cm tail. Weave tail through remaining stitches. Use extra to seam up hat, leaving one Main color row on each side of the seam. Weave in all remaining ends.
