Crocheted Stained Glass Flower Pattern: Detailed Instructions for 6" and 8" Squares

Stained Glass Flower

6" or 8" crocheted square Hook: G hook - your center flower should be 3" tip to tip. Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver or Crafter's Secret- I suggest a stiffer yarn since the pattern is so open and a lighter yarn would not keep the structure needed to make this motif square.

Six Inch Square:

1. Magic circle, 12 sc in to ring, pulltight. Join with slip stitch to first sc. 2. \*Ch 4, slip stitch into next sc. Repeat from \* around. Slip stitch to first ch. (12 loops of ch4) 3. Slip stitch into first ch4 loop. \*(3sc, ch3, 3sc) all in first loop. Sc in next loop. Repeat from \* around. Slip stitch to first sc. (6 petals and 6 sc's between petals). 4. If changing colors join with second color with a sc any of the sc between petals. \*Ch 4, sc in ch3 space at tip of petal, ch 4, sc in sc between petals. Repeat from \* around, ch 4 and join with slip stitch to the first sc. (12 loops of ch4)

5. \*Ch 12, skip three of the ch 4 spaces and sc the sc from previous round. Repeat from \* ending with a slip stitch instead of a sc. [NOTE: Your first loop will attach to the tip of a petal, the 2nd between two petals, the 3rd at the tip of a petal and the 4th willslip stitch to your first chain of the round] (4 ch12 loops)

6. \*Ch 6, slip stitch in 6th ch of ch 12 from previous round, ch5, slip stitch in same stitch. ch 6, slip stitch in sc from previous round. Repeat from \* around. (8 ch6 spaces and 4 ch5 corners)

7. With new color join in any corner space. \*Corner with 2hdc, ch 3, 2hdc. 7dc in each of next two ch6 spaces. Repeat from \* around. Finish off. (48 dc and 16hdc) 8. With new color, Join with sc in any dc. \*Sc in each stitch to corner. Corner as (2sc, ch3, 2sc), repeat from\* around. Slip stitch or invisible join. Finish off, weave in ends and block if needed.

Eight Inch Square:

Steps 1-6 follow the 6 inch pattern for the first six rounds 7. If changing color, join with a sc in the slip stitch between chain 6 spaces. Ch1 \*7sc in next ch6 space, (Corner with 2hdc, ch 3, 2hdc), 7sc in next ch6 space, sc in slip stitch between chain 6 spaces from previous round. Repeat from \* around. Join with a slip stitch in first sc. (60sc and 16hdc or 19 stitches per side) 8. NOTE: I have different directions for this step depending on whether you change color or not. Please complete one of the following and proceed to step nine: IF NOT CHANGING COLOR: ch3 (counts as 1st dc) \*dc in each stitch to corner. Corner as (3dc, ch3, 3dc), repeat from\* around. slip stitch to top of ch3. (25 stitches per side) If changing color, join in a corner, then: ch3 (counts as 1st dc). 2dc, ch3, 3dc all in the same corner. \*dc in each stitch to corner. Corner as (3dc, ch3, 3dc), repeat from\* around. slip stitch to top of ch3. 9. ch3, skip 2 dc, sc in next] around, cornering ch5. Join with slip stitch bottom of first ch3. [NOTE: At the corner you will have a sc in the last stitch on that side, ch5 and then a sc in the first stitch of the next side]. (32 ch 3 spaces and 4 ch 5 spaces)

Page 3 10. Ch1, \*3sc in each ch3, corner with 5sc. repeat around. slip stitch to ch1. 11. If changing color, join with a slip stitch in any sc from previous round. Ch2. hdc in each sc, putting 5 hdc in each corner (center or 3rd of the 5sc from previous round). FO, weave in all ends. Block.
