MATERIALS:

Sassy Skein Key West Karibbean Kotton 100% Mercerized Cotton Color A 203 Strawberry Daiquiri 1 skeins Color B 222 Blue Lagoon 30 yds Circular needle size 7 x 16" Small Eyed Tapestry Needle Stitch Marker

GAUGE: 18 Stitches and 24 Rows = 4" TO SAVE TIME CHECK YOUR GAUGE!!

HAT:

This hat is knit in the round (rnd). On a size 7 circular needle with Color A, CO 74 sts. Place marker, join yarn and knit rnd. Work 5 rnds of K1, P1 ribbing. Crossed Stockinette Stitch:tbl Rnd 6: Color A, knit rnd Rnd 7: Knit through the back loop . Rnd 8: Knit rnd Rnd 9: Knit through the back loop Work est pattern until hat measures 5". Begin shaping crown of hat.

Crown:

While continuing in est pattern, work the following: Rnd 1: \*K2 tog, k1; repeat from \* around. Rnd 2: Knit rnd. Repeat rnds 1 and 2, 3 more times. Cut yarn leaving long tail. Using your tapestry needle, weave tail of yarn through the stitches left on your needle. Pull tightly together. Secure and leave tail for securing Pom-Pom in place. Weave in yarn tail to wrong side of hat. Clip yarn tail close.

FINISHING:

Lightly block hat, taking care not to flatten out the edging. Create a Pom-Pom using both Color A and B, cut a 4" piece of cardboard (or use something that width). Wind strands around the cardboard until it is fairly full. Cut yarn. Carefully slide yarn off the cardboard. Cut a tail using one strand. Tie around middle of Pom-Pom and tie very tightly. Trim ends of Pom-Pom shaping it into the size you like. (do this over a waste basket @) Secure Pom-Pom to top of hat with yarn tails. Then take the remaining 1 yd of Color B and with a tapestry needle make an anchor starting with a french knot sew anchor design on to front of hat.
