Don't let this complex looking stitch pattern fool you, this beautiful simple scarf uses just two stitches. the YO (yarn over) and P2TOG (purl 2 together), combined you get stunning effects and wearing options! yoU can do it!
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
9 × 54" after blocking GAUGE: not important, whatever you get will be fine!
MATERIALS:
approx. 270 yards any DK weight yam size us 8 knitting needle
STITCHES USED:
YO: (yam over) wrap the yam around the needle counter-clockwise. This will count as a new stitch P2TOG: (purl 2 together) purl 2 stitches together in the nomal fashion. This will make a decrease of 1 stitch Slip St: (slip stitch) slip the first stitch from the left needle in a knitwise fashion. (This produces a tidy chained edge up the entire scarf.)
PATTERN (multiple of 2 + 3)
Cast on 33 sts
Row i: Slip Ist st knit wise, \* YO, P2TOG repeat between \*'s to end of row, turn. Repeat row i until you are almost out of yarn. Bind of loosely. Steam block.
DETERMINING STRIPES
If you don't care about vertical "stripes", just cast on an uneven number and begin pattern, but if you do, then determine how many vertical "stripes" wanted, multiply by 2. then add 3 stitches.
