Back Scrubber

This pattern will teach you how to work a crochet provisional cast on.
Materials needed
Cotton Flake Yarn- use triple- I purchased my yarn at “Webs". It is available on cones. Cotton Flake Yarn has some texture to it, so it works better than smooth cotton. Needles- size 5 Large eye needle to weave in the ends Your gauge is not important in this project- you just want to make sure, that your knitting is nice and firm. Provisional cast on I used 4 strands of sock yarn and an $\mathrm{H}-$ hook to start mine. Make sure it is nice and loose. Crochet a chain of about 9 or10 stitches. Pull the end of the yarn through the last loop. Take a look at your chain. The top of it forms a nice chain. When you turn it over, you can see little bumps. We will pull our yarn through those bumps. Start at the end of your chain. Insert the needle through the front of the bump and pull your yarn through to form your first stitch. Keep doing this until you have seven stitches on your needle.

Knit on those seven stitches for about 54 rows or about 7 inches. When you are done with the last row, cast on 3 stitches.

Now, fold the knitted strip in half, so the crochet chain is next to the three new stitches. You will undo the chain from the end of it. If you did this correctly, you could just pull on it, and the thread would unravel. But let's do it one chain at a time, so you can pick up those stitches.

It's important, that the strip is folded as above. You will see why, when we finish off with the row of single crochet. After you pick up all of the stitches, there should be17. Knit on those stitches for about 150 rows- 20 or 21 inches- more or less depending on the size of the person you will give this to. When it is long enough, knit 7 stitches and place them on a holder. Cast off 3 stitches, and knit the last 7. This will be the handle on the other end. Knit this strip as long as the first one.

Fold the strip the same way as the other one. Put the stitches from the stitch holder on a needle, and place it next to the other needle. Knit both needles together, with a $3-$ needle bind off. DO NOT break off the yarn. Using a size G or H crochet hook, make a row of single crochet all around the back scrubber. If you folded the handles correctly, you will be able to crochet around the sides, and through the handle- loops all in one row. I hope you enjoyed this project.
