Headband:
(0-6 months) Leaving a long tail, with 3.5mm hook and MC, chain 60. Being careful not to twist the Chain, join with a sl st to first chain. Round 1: Ch 2 (does not count as a stitch), DC in same stitch, DC in next 59 ch, join with sl st to beginning DC. (60 DC) Round 2: Ch 2, DC in same stitch. DC in each of the next 59 DC, join with sl st to beginning DC. Fasten off leaving a long tail. (60 DC) (6-12months) \~ Work the same as 0-6 months, except chain 65 and work 65 DC per round. (1-3 years) \~ Work the same as 0-6 months, except chain 70 and work 70 DC per round. (4-6 years) \~ Work the same as 0-6 months using 4.5mm hook (60 DC stitches) (7-11 years) \~ work the same as 6-12 months using 4.5mm hook. (12+ years) \~ work the same as 1-3 years using 5.5mm hook.
Flower:
Round 1: Using same size hook as the headband, make a magic ring. Ch 2 (does not count as a stitch) and work 18 dc into the ring. Join with sl st in the front loop only to first dc. Pull to close up the ring, but not completely shut. Leave a small hole for your button shank to sit in. Round 2: \*Ch 5, sl st in front loop of next DC.\* Repeat from \* to \* around. Ch 5 and join with sl st to first ch of beginning ch 5. Round 3: \*Ch 5, sl st in unused back loop of next DC.\* Repeat from \* to \* around. Ch 5 and join with sl st to first ch of beginning ch 5. Fasten off and weave in the ends on your flower. Assmebly:
Weave the ends of your headband in to meet in the center. Thread both thicknesses of yarn onto your needle. Make sure you're on the right side of the work. Thread the needle thru the center of your flower from back to front. Thread thru the shank of the button and then back thru the flower and the headband, making sure to end on the wrong side of the headband. Pull snugly. Tie a half knot and then a surgeons knot for security and weave in any remaining tail. Trim off any excess.
