SIZES: Adult, 20" (Hat will stretch up to 2") GAUGE: 3.5 sts = 1" YARN: 1 skein Debbie Bliss Winter Garden, 109 yards, 100 grams. Sample: #03 Bark NEEDLES: Size #10.5, 16" circular needles and double pointed needless, or any needle size necessary to obtain correct gauge. QTHER MATERIALS: Stitch marker, darning needle for weaving in ends PATTERN KEY: CO = Cast on K = Knit K2tog = Knit two stitches together P = Purl PM =Place marker
TAKE TIME TOSAVE TIME.ALWAYSCHECKYOUR GAUGE.
With circular needles, CO 72 sts. PM and join in the round. Begin 1x1 Rib Pattern. 1x1 Rib Pattern: \*K1, P1 \*repeat to the end of round. Continue 1x1 Rib Pattern for 8", or preferred length of hat. NOTE: If you don't want the hat to fold over, knit for only 5" before the decrease section.
DECREASES:
Round 1: \*Continue in rib for 6 sts, K2tog, \*repeat to end Round 2 & all even rounds: \*Knit the knits and purl the purls, \*repeat to end Round 3: \*Continue rib for 5sts, K2tog \*repeat to end Repeat this decrease pattern, knitting one less stitch before K2tog in every odd round. Switch to dpns when stitches no longer fit comfortably on the circular needle. When there are 9 sts left, remove marker and K2tog 2 more times (5 sts left). Strand left over yarn through remaining stitches. Weave in ends. Enjoy!
