Any Yarn, with appropriate needle size, and any texture stitch will work for this blanket. Choose one or mix it up. The key is to make sure to increase two stitches at each corner every other round. The following pattern, is for the blanket pictured.
Materials
3 skeins of Cottonease in Maize (MC), 3 skeins in Charcoal (CC) US#8 double points US#8 circulars (24" and 40") 1 end of round marker (eor) 4 corner markers
Gauge Gauge size will directly effect blanket size.
4 stitches $=1$ inch for pictured blanket. SetUp CO 8 sts. (I used my favorite method for circular cast ons. Round 1- kfb 8 times. place eor marker Round $2-k,p,*p{\mathsf{p}}{\mathsf{m}},k,\ p,\ k,\ p,*3$ times, pm, k, p.
Garter Rib Section
pattern stitch Increase Round$*_{\mathsf{K}}$ to 1 stitch before marker, kfb, slm, kfb\* 4 times, k to eor. Round $2-\ 1\times1$ rib in pattern to m, slm, $k1^{*}$ 4 times. 1x1 rib to eor. Round $^{3-}$ repeat increase round Round 4- 1x1 rib in pattern to end. Continue in pattern until there are 54 stitches between corner markers.
Garter Section
Pattern Stitch Purl 1 round Increase Round$*_{\mathsf{K}}$ to 1 stitch before marker, kfb, slm, kfb\* 4 times, k to eor. Continue in pattern until there are 60 stitches between corner markers. End with an increase round.
Stockinette Stitch Section
Pattern stitch Knit 1 round. Increase Round$*_{\mathsf{K}}$ to 1 stitch before marker, kfb, slm, kfb\* 4 times, k to eor. Continue in pattern until there are 66 stitches between corner markers. End with an increase round.
Repeat Garter Section.
Continue in pattern until there are 72 stitches between corner markers. End with an increase round.
Repeat Garter Rib Section.
Start with Round 2. End on a round 2. When you have 96 sts in between corner markers. Change to CC. Continue in pattern until there are 98 stitches between corner markers. End with an increase round.
Repeat Garter Section.
Continue in pattern until there are 104 stitches between corner markers. End with an increase round.
Repeat Stockinette Stitch Section.
Continue in pattern until there are 110 stitches between corner markers. End with an increase round.
Repeat Garter Section.
Continue in pattern until there are 116 stitches between corner markers. End with an increase round.
Repeat Garter Rib Section.
Start with Round 2. Continue in pattern until there are 136 stitches between corner markers. End with an increase round.
Repeat Garter Section
Continue in pattern until there are 140 stitches between corner markers.End with a knit round. BO loosely in purl. Cinch up center and weave in ends.

\* to \*- repeat instructions inside asterisks until end of round or specified number of times. $\mathbf{k-}$ knit. p- purl. kfb- knit into the front loop and then the back loop of one stitch. eor- end of round marker. slm- slip stitch marker. pm- place stitch marker.
