You can make a strap to help keep the slippers on too, if you like. My daughter seemed quite content without one, and they stay on well enough. To make the bottoms non-slip, you could draw on with some puffy paint and toss in the dryer (after paint has air dried), or buy some non slip material and sew onto the bottoms. If you need to adjust, just add a couple rows of length to sole and add a couple stitches for the top. It's pretty easy to adjust :) They fit better than this picture suggests, as she shoved her foot all the way to the end and was tugging on the back part! When she walks normally they stay on and don't look so silly.
