Have you ever tried to hold on to the leash with your hands in your pocket? Never works, does is? Well here is a cabled mitten for your hand and a retractable leash. Except for a few cables, this is a really easy - worked from the cuff to the flap. Yarn: I used two strands of Naturally Caron Country held together, which is 25% Merino Wool and 75% Microdenier Acrylic - Any yarn that gets you the right gauge will work though. Recommended needle size: 16-inch US #8/5mm circular needle - I did the magic loop method, but double. point needles can easily be used Will also need: Stitch marker, Cable needle, Small stitch holder, Tapestry needle, and (2) 1-inch buttons Gauge: 15 sts/24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on larger needles Pattern Notes: C6B: Slip next 3 sts to cable needle and hold to back of work; k3, k3 from cable needle. 2x2 Rib-Worked over an even # of sts: Row I: [K2, p2] to end. Repeat for 2x2 Rib. M1: Make 1 YO: Yarn over Directions: Cuff: CO 40 sts. Divide sts between needles and join to begin working in the round, being careful not to twist. Place marker to indicate beginning of round. Work in 2x2 Rib until work measures 4 inches. Body: Row 1: M1, \*K2, M1, P2, M1\* Repeat until the end - 60 st Row 2: \*K4, P2\* Repeat until the end Row 3: \*K4, P2, M1, K4, M1, P2\* Repeat until the end - 70 sts Row 4&5: \*K4, P2, K6, P2\* Repeat until the end Row 6: \*K4, P2, C6B, P2\* Repeat until the end Row 7-11: \*K4, P2, K6, P2\* Repeat until the end Repeat rows 6-11 for appox. 11” for cable pattern Flap: Then knit 34 sts, turn work and BO 34 sts Follow the cable pattern until 3" long (Rows 6-11) After 3" add two YO buttonhole; one in the centre of eachK4


Then follow pattern another 2-3 times BO all stitches Finishing: Weave in ends. Fold flap over opening to determine location for buttons; sew buttons in place. Insert retractable leash and close buttons. Leave the collar hook hanging out on one side of opening. Insert hand and take your dog for a walk!
