Now, let me begin by saying that I am a Scarf Person. I have more scarves and shawls than you can shake a stick at, and you will generally find me with one wrapped around my neck. But as much as I like scarves and shawls of all desciptions, sometimes they drive me crazy by refusing to stay put. This cowl-style neckwarmer won't go anywhere, though - bring on that blustery autumn weather! PIMLICO is knitted in the round from the bottom up in a simple fishtail lace pattern, with decorative edgings at top and bottom. The shape is slightly flared, so the cowl rests comfortably on your shoulders. To create a softly draping fabric, I chose to knit with sock-weight yarn at a looser than recommended gauge. measurements top circumference: approx. 22" bottom circumference: approx. 34" length: 20"

(When working in the round, all chart rounds are read from right to left.)
DIRECTIONS:
CO 176 sts (using an elastic method) and join to begin working in the round. (As you work the first round, you may want to place stitch markers between a few of the pattern repeats to help you keep an eye on the stitch count.) Work chart 1 once, then work through charts 2-4. (Note that after first round of chart 2 the number of sts is 154, after first round of chart 3 you have 132 sts, and after first round of chart 4 the stitch count is 110.) After completing chart 4 once, continue working rounds 9-16 until smoke ring is nearly the desired length, ending with round 16. Now work chart 5. Cast off loosely, weave in yarn ends and block. (When blocking items that have been knitted in the round I tend to block flat first, once the item is dry I open it up and gently with an iron press out the creases that were formed at the sides.)
