Foliage Scarf Modified by Ashley Aguilar
Emilee Mooney's Foliage hat pattern was published in Knitty's Fall 2o07 issue. Last spring, I modified the pattern to make a scarf. With spring's approach getting closer every single day, l decided to revisit and share this pattern with everyone. It is easily adaptable to be worked in a dk or worsted weight, in whichever width you'd like. Thanks, Emilee, for such a great pattern. Note: Leaf Lace Chart used in this pattern comes from Foliage's Knitty.com page. This chart is copyright Emilee Mooney and is being used with her permission. Materials 2 skeins of NaturallyCaron.com Spa or approximately 5o0 yards of dk weight yarn Worsted weight may also be used, as gauge is not terribly important here. US size 7 needles Gauge As this is meant to be a drapey scarf, gauge isn't terribly important here. With my yarn and needle choice, gauge was equal to 5.5 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch. Alternatively, you may use any worsted weight yarn. Directions Using US size 7 needles, cast on 28 stitches (or 20 stitches for a less wide scarf//36 stitches for a wider scarf) and work four rows of garter stitch (knitting each row). Follow the leaf lace chart or written directions until scarf is at its desired length. Knit four more rows of garter stitch, bind off and block. Leaf Lace Pattern (Worked over a multiple of 8 sts with two selvedge stitches on each end): Round 1: K2, \*k2, SK2P, k2, yo, kl, yo; repeat from \* until last two stitches, k2. Even-numbered Rounds 2-12: K all stitches. Round 3: K2, \*k1, SK2P, kl, yo, k3, yo; repeat from \* until last two stitches, k2. Round 5: K2, \*SK2P, yo, k5, yo; repeat from \* until last two stitches, k2. Round 7: K2, \*yo, kl, yo, k2, SK2P, k2; repeat from \* until last two stitches, k2 Round 9: K2, \*yo, k3, yo, kl, SK2P, kl; repeat from \* until last two stitches, k2. Round 1i: K2, \*yo, k5, yo, SK2P; repeat from \* until last two stitches, k2. Repeat these 12 rounds for Leaf Lace Pattern.

Note about Leaf Lace Chart: This chart was not updated to include 2 selvedge stitches at each end. When working from chart: K2, work chart (repeating until two stitches remain on your left needle), K2.
