Lillle Cables JCeadband
A Pattern designed by Lauren Rossi

Cables are fun and look complicated to a non-knitter, but they're actually quite simple to make! They're sure to impress any non-knitter you know. Here's a fun pattern to help you start with cables! At least 100 yards of worsted weight yarn. (I used Red Heart Super Saver in my finished object photo, and in the tutorial photos, I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease) Size 5.00 mm needles (In the tutorial photos you'll see a double pointed needle - that's just because I don't have a regular one in size 5.00mm on hand. You don't have to use a double pointed needle.in fact that might make it harder for you if you're a beginner knitter) 1 Cable stitch holder that is about the same size as your needle.

This pattern knitted up in only a couple of hours for me, as I was somewhat distracted and took a few breaks, but it shouldn't be too challenging and if you pick it up fast you can be done in an hour or an hour and a half. CO 14 sts using your favorite cast on method (I used long-tail cast on). Row 1: p3, k8, p3 Row 2: k3, p8, k3 Row 3: as row 1 Row 4: as row 2 Row 5: p3, place the next 4 sts on the cable stitch holder, k4. Then, go back to the cable stitch holder and knit the 4 sts onto your working needle. Purl the remaining sts on the other needle. Repeat this pattern (Every 5 rows, add a cable) until it reaches desired length. Measure how long it should be by wrapping it around your head while it's still on the needle, to gauge how long it should be. To complete, bo and sew the piece together.
