Scallopine
OWherommetick by Tina Martinez

Difficulty Level:
Confident beginner.
Materials:
·100g heavy fingering/sport weight handspun yarn. Noro sock yarn is a very good substitute if you don't have handspun.. · US size 9, 16" circular needles or DPNs (double pointed needles). · US "G" crochet hook · Darning needle.
Gauge:
5 stitches to the inch is. a good guide, aim for a very drapey fabric.
Techniques:
Basic knitting, knitting in the round, beginning crochet (single, double and triple crochet).
Pattern Notes:
· The yarn I used to create this cowl resembles Noro sock yarn very much. It was some of my first handspun, created during my first year of spinning, and has a similar rustic/occasionally thick and thin quality. · Because I wanted a very drapey cowl I knit this with size 6 needles. The edging flops over, but be cause i's crochet, it's pretty on either side. · You may choose to thread a ribbon through the eyelets created in the crochet border for an extra bit of flair. · This cowl is sized to be wide enough to pull up over my head, you may choose to make it narrower. If so, reduce by multiples of 10 stitches.
Crochet References:
The best way to learn basic crochet techniques (aside from taking a class) is to visit a tutorial website or take a book like 200 Crochet Tips & Tricks out of the library. I included written instructions from the Crochet Guild of America for those who just need a refresher.
