Instructions
Body: (Knitted in the round in one piece) With circular needle, CO 192 (208, 216) sts using Blue. Join to work in round, placing stitch marker and being careful not to twist stitches. Knit 10 rounds corrugated rib (see CHART A) using Whirlpool, Aster, and White for knit sts and Blue for purlsts. For S (M, L) follow CHART B, 24 (26, 27) repeats per round until body measures 6" (7", 8") from top of ribbing. This brings you to the underarm. Armholes: K pattern for 96 (104, 108) stitches, then C0 12 steek stitches (see ample steek charts at end of pattern). Continue to k pattern for other half of sts to end of round, CO 12 stitches for other underarm steek. Knit around, including steek stitches, keeping pattern according to CHART B, until body measures 10.5 (11.35, 12.25) inches from top of ribbing. Front Neck Shaping: Work steek sts and first 40 (43, 45) sts, BO next 16 (18, 18) sts, then work until end of round. 176 (190, 198) pattern sts remain. Break off yarn and move the left front shoulder sts from the left needle to the right needle. Reattach yarn and begin knitting back and forth, keeping to the pattern. BO 3(4, 4) sts at the neck edge of next 2 rows, then BO 2 sts at the neck edge of next 7 rows. Repeat with other front shoulder. 20 (21, 23) sts remain on each shoulder. Back Neck Shaping: BO center 30 (32, 34) sts of back for neck opening, then work to the end of the row. Working back and forth, each side separately, B0 2 sts at the neck edge every row, until there are 20 (21, 23) sts left on each back shoulder. Body measures 11.5" (13", 14") [29cm (33cm, 35.5cm)]. Sleeves: Using #3 DPNs CO 87 (95, 103) sts and join, being careful not to twist sts. Follow CHART C, adding one more repeat per round as shown, working in the round. When you get down to 40 sts (you will have to work a few more pattern rows on larger sizes), knit a 2x2 rib for 8 rows in Blue. Knit 2 sleeves. For two larger sizes, add one more repeat per round, as shown in chart between yellow lines. Finishing: Cut steeks. Lightly steam sleeves and sweater body. Pin sleeves to armholes, and sew in place using tapestry needle and Whirlpool yarn. Tie and trim all color change ends. Trim steeks. Turn under and hem stitch steeks to sweater body, being careful that sts don't show on outside of sweater. Graft shoulder seams together with Kitchener stitch. Using 16” #3 circular needle, pick up 112 (116, 116) sts around neck opening, using Blue. Knit 8 rounds of 2x2 rib. BO. Weave in yarn ends.
