Skill Level: Easy

Materials:

2 skeins TLC amore (same color) 2 skeins Red Heart Super Saver (same color) J (6mm) hook, F (3.75mm) hook Stuffing YarnNeedle

Size:

Finished pillow measures approx. 19" in diameter, 3" high. Can easily be made larger or smaller by adding or decreasing the amount of rows for the top and bottom circles. \*note - this pattern uses American Terminology Follow the instructions below in the order written to make the cushion. Instructions placed between stars \*like so\* are to be repeated as instructed. Pay attention to the headings for what kind of yarn, how many strands, and what size hook to use. When instructed to use 2 strands of the same yarn, use both skeins.

Top Circle - 2 strands of Amore, J hook

1) Ch 2. Make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 2) Sc 1 in top of 1st sc of prv rnd (don't join - work in rounds). Place a marker in the to pof the st just made (place this marker in the first st made on every round so you can keep track of where you are). Sc 1 again in same st. Make 2 sc in each st around to marker. (12 sts total). 3) \*Sc 1, make 2 sc in next\* 6 times (18 sts total) 4) \*Sc 2, make 2 sc in next\* 6 times (24 sts total) 5) \*Sc 3, make 2 sc in next\* 6 times (30 sts total). Continue in this manner (increasing 6 sts evenly each round - you will add 1 more st between the increases on each round, as done in rounds 2 - 5), until there are 27 rows total. The last round is as follows: 27) \*Sc 25, make 2 sc in next\* 6 times. End off and make an invisible join (see endnote). (162 sts total). You should now have a large hexagon shape (a circle with 6 points).

Bottom Circle - 2 strands Red Heart, J hook

1 - 27) Same as for Top Circle - don't end off or join after last round. 28) sc in ea st around, through the Back Loops Only. 29-34) Sc in ea st around. 34) Sc in ea st around until 11 remain. Ch 10. Skip 10 sts, sc in last. End off, make an invisible join (see end note).

Button - 1 strand Amore, J hook

1) Ch 2. Make 8 sc in 2nd ch from hk. 2) \*Sc 1, make 2 sc in next\* around. (12 sts total). 3) Sc around (12 sts total). 4) Sc2tog around (6 sts total). Join and cut end, leaving a long tail (about 2 feet). Stuff the button with a length of yarn. Use the long tail to weave through the sts on the last row and pull tight to close, then whip st the edge of the button to the center of the top circle. Leave the long tail attached.

Sewing - 2 strands Red Heart, J hook

Place the Top Circle on top of the Bottom Circle so that the points of both circles are aligned, and right sides are facing out. Working through the last rows of both circles together, do reverse sc all around. When you reach the place with the ch 10 on the Bottom Circle, work only through the top loops of the ch (and both loops of the top circle) - leaving the bottom loops of the ch unworked for joining a flap later. When you come back around to the beginning, end off, join and weave in ends.

Flap - 1 strand red heart, J and F hooks

1) Find where the 10 unworked loops are from the ch 10 (there should be a hole in your pillow here). With J hook, join in the first unworked loop and ch 1. Sc 10 into unworked loops. 2) Ch 1, turn. Sk 1, sc 7, sk 1, sc 1. 3) Ch 1 turn. Sk 1, sc 5, sk 1, sc 1. 4) Ch 1 turn. Sk 1, sc 3, sk 1, sc 1. 5) Ch 1, turn. Sk 1, sc 1, sk 1, sc 1. End off. With F hook, join in the top left corner of the flap. Sc 10 down the side edge of the flap. Ch 4. Sc 1 in same st as last sc. Sc 9 down 2nd side edge of flap. Join to top, end off. Weave in ends. Sew a button onto the Side of the pillow where the button hole on the tip of the flap falls.

Stuffing

Stuff the Pillow through the hole left under the flap, and close the flap. Take the rest of the long tail from where you sewed the button onto the Top Circle, and with a yarn needle thread it down through the center of the bottom Circle, then back up to the button on the Top Circle. Pull taught (this will make a dip in the center of the pillow), tie off and weave in the end.

Pockets (optional) - 1 strand Red Heart, J hook

1) ch 162 (or however many sts there are on last row of Top and Bottom Circles if you decided to make them a different size). Join to 1st ch with sl st to form a ring. Ch 1, sc in ea ch around (162 total). 2-9) sc in ea st around. End off, make an invisible join. Wrap the piece just made around the sides of the pillow, so that the bottom edge lines up with the unworked loops on the bottom edge of the Bottom Circle. Stitch the bottom edge of the belt to the unworked loops on the bottom edge of the Bottom Circle by doing reverse sc all around working through both edges together (same as when you stitched the Top and Bottom Circles together). Use a small length of yarn to sew the top of the belt to the reverse sc edge on the top of the pillow at each of the 6 points of the hexagon shape. Use the pockets to stuff remote controls, cat toys, or whatever into, and enjoy your cushion! If you ever need to wash the cushion, unstuff it (place the stuffing temporarily into a bag), Wash and Dry normally, then restuff.
