Instruction:

Use your favorite method to cast on/ knit the toe. I recommend the “magic cast on for toe-up socks" (Knitty Spring 06). Stitches needed to go on with the instep: 64 When you have finished the toe knit 16 stitches and place a marker. This point will be the beginning of each round and is placed at the sole of your feet. Round 1-3: knit with MC Round 4-6: knit with CC Round 7-9: knit with MC Round 10-12: work in color pattern 1 Round 13-15: knit with MC

Round 16-18: knit with CC Round 19-21: knit with MC Round 22-44: work in color pattern 2 Round 45-47: knit with MC Round 48-50: knit with CC Round 51-53: knit with MC Round 54-56: work in color pattern 1 Round 57-59: knit with MC Round 60-62: knit with CC, break the yarn and leave a tail long enough to weave it in at the end. Round 63-65: knit with MC, but stop 16 stitches before the beginning of the next round. Take scrap yarn and knit with it the next 32 stitches. Knit these again using the working yarn (MC). Knit the remaining stitches until you reach the marker. Round 152-153: work in MC Round 154: (k8 k2tog) x8 (72 stitches total) Round 155-181: k2 p2 ribbing BO loosely. Heel: (done in MC) Remove the waste yarn and place the stitches ( 32 on one side and 31 on the other) back on the needles. Round 1: knit, picking up 1 or 2 stitches on each side of the heel opening (make sure there is the same number of stitches on both needles afterwards). Round 2: (k1, ssk, k29, k2tog, k1)x2 Round 3: knit Round 4: (k1. ssk. K27, k2tog, k1)x2 Round 5: knit Go on like this until you have 32 stitches left in total. Graft them together.
