Tassel Hat with Bows

Size:
Height: 6 inches (folded) Width: 8 inches (16 in circumference) Note: piece is made in a rectangle shape then folded in half from top to bottom. To make hat wider add to the beginning chain, to make it taller add to the number of rows.
Materials:
Yarn: 1 skein of Loops and Thread Impeccable in Lavender 1 skein of Red Heart Super Saver in Gold 2- Small Bows with twist ties (preferable clear) I got these bows at Michael's. You can also find them at Wal-mart or make your own SizeJ crochethook
Abbreviations:
HDC = Half Double Crochet CH = Chain SK = Skip ST = Stitch FO = Finish Off
Gauge:
After row 1, Piece should measure 8 inches across.
Notes:
You can make the hat without bows and just have the tassels for a boy. You can make the tassels longer or shorter, switch up the colors, just have fun and make it your own. These hats are very stretchy too. My son is 4 and still wears the one I made him when he was 1 years old Hand wash and lay flat to dry. Do not lron! Instructions:
With Lavender, Ch. 21 Row 1: Hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across. (20 hdc) Row 2: Ch.2, hdc in each st. across (20 hdc) w 2 until the piece measures 12 inches from the beginning (about 24 rows) then FC Fold the hat in half from top to bottom. Sew up the sides making the hat a square
To Make the Fringe:
Cut six 14 inch strands in Gold. Fold them in half and attach the tassels to one top corner. Repeat for the other corner. Use the twist tie to wrap the bow around the tassel as if it were a pony tail.
