Standout Striped Baby Blanket
This pattern is very versatile. By casting on 73 stitches I ended up with a blanket approximately 19 inches wide. To make the blanket wider or narrower, cast on more or fewer stitches. You can even use different weight yarns and appropriate sized needles. Size: Preemie approximately 19" x 19" Yarn Requirements: Worsted weight yarn in up to five colours. Colour A is the main colour. Other colours would be B, C, D, and E. Needle Size: US 8 (5mm) Other Materials: Tapestry needle Gauge: Approximately 16sts to 4" in stockinette stitch Abbreviation List: K: knit P: purl Blanket: Cast on 73 sts in A. Knit 7 rows.
Start Pattern:
Row l: Knit in A Row 2: K6,P61, K6 Row 3: Knit Row 4: K6,P61, K6 Row 5: Using Colour B, K6, P61, K6 Row 6: Knit Continue on these 6 rows substituting colour C, D, and E for colour B until the blanket is as long as you would like, ending after Row 6. Repeat Rows 1 to 4 once more. Knit 7 rows. Cast off. Weave in ends.


Variation:
Instead of garter stitch borders you can do seed stitch borders. Kl, Pl across each of the 7 rows. (K1, P1)x3, pattern across 61 stitches, (P1, K1)x3 for each row. Work the pattern and colour changes as listed for the garter stitch blanket until the blanket is as long as you would like. Kl, Pl across the row for 7 more rows. +Bind off. The white, green, and pink blanket is done with the seed stitch border.
