This triangular shawl is called Sivilla because of the wonderful Finnish yarn Sivilla Wetterhoff that I got from one of my Finnish knitting friends. Sivilla is knitted from the centre of the back (neck), each row is increased by four stitches: one yarnover at each edge and one yarnover before and after the central stitch. Yarn: Sivilla Wetterhoff, $70\;\%$ wool, $30\,\%$ silk, $50\ \mathrm{g}/\,250\ \mathrm{m}$ I used 3 skeins $(150\;\mathrm{g})$ Needles: 3 mm (US 2.5) Gauge: not critical. Lace knitting is a wonderfully versatile craft, you can experiment with yarns and needle sizes. It will look nice in mohair or in lace weight/fingering weight yarn.
Start up:
Cast on 7 stitches. 1st row: K2, yo, kl, yo, kl, yo, kl, yo, K2. 2 stitches in the beginning and in the end of the sequence are edge stitches, knit on both sides. K1 in the middle of the sequence is the central stitch.
2nd row: knit.
Start Chart 1. Only one part before the central stitch is given. The shawl is symmetrical and the second part after the central stitch mirrors the first one. Back rows are not given, knit them as you see (i.e., if you see a purl stitch, purl etc), only edge stitches should be always knit. Purl yarnovers in the back rows. When you reach row 35, repeat the chart from row 19: row 35 is like 19, row 37 like 21 etc (see row numbers on the chart), row 51 like row 19, etc. For the sake of clarity, row 35 is given in the chart. Make as many repeats as you wish. Knit the last repeat before the edge untill the row that is like row 31 (47, 63 etc).
