GREY TRIANGLE

Yarn: Sivilla Wetterhoff, $70\,\%$ wool, $30\,\,\%$ silk $50\ \mathrm{g}/250\ \mathrm{m}$ ,3 skeins Needles: $3\;\mathrm{mm}$ The gauge is not critical. You can experiment with different yarns and needles The triangular shawl starts from the centre of the neck. The shawl has edge stitches from either side and the central stitch. In every right side row 4 stitches are increased (unless indicated otherwise): after the edge stitches, before and after the central stitch and before the edge stitches. The shawl is symmetrical before and after the central stitch, hence the chart is given only for one half of the shawl. Beginning: CO 7 stitches. K 2 (edge stitches), yo, k 1, yo, $\textrm{k}1$ (the central stitch), yo, k 1, yo, $\textrm{k}2$ (edge stitches). The edge stitches are in garter stitch, the central stitch is $\mathrm{k}$ on the RS, $\mathfrak{p}$ On the Ws. Continue knitting while increasing 4 stitches every RS row as indicated earlier. On WS purl the stitches between the edge stitches and the central stitch. Continue untill the number of stitches between the edge stitches and the central stitch is 21 (remember that all figures are given for one half of the shawl and that the second half is identical). On RS start the lace pattern (Chart 1). It is important for the lace pattern that the number of stitches equals $9+$ some number divisible by 12. Now you have added 30 stitches and the number of stitches in one half is 51 (the edge stitches and the central stitch are not included). Knit 18 rows in stockinette. Now the number of stitches is 69. Start Chart 1 once more. Thus the stockinette stripes alternate with the lace stripes. Every lace stripe increases the numer of stitches by 30, every stockinette stripe does that by 18 stithes. You can alternate the stripes as much as you want. The last lace stripe is wider. After having knit according to Chart 1, continue with Chart 2. Finishing: knit 2 rows in garter stitch (except the central stitch). After that make an eyelet row: edge stitches, yo, $^{*}\mathrm{s}1\,\ k1$ psso, yo\*, kl, yo, central stitch, yo, k1, \* yo k2tog\* (repeat the combination between $^{**}$ as many times as needed), edge stitches. Knit 2 rows in garter. Cast off. Make wet and block slightly. If you do not want the lace pattern to become flat, don't block too strongly.
