Start with a slip knot. None required foundation chain. Round 1 is a series of puffs that performs that function.
STITCHES USED
Incomplete hdc
yo, draw a loop through the base stitch, pull both loops. (= 3 loops on the hook)
Puff
ch 1 and extend the loop on the hook (about one inch height, count as first hdc), 2 incomplete hdc in the base stitch (= 5 loops on the hook), yo and draw through of all the loops, ch 1 to fasten..(= 1 loop on the hook)

Group of 3 puffs
ch 1 and extend the loop on the hook (count as first hdc), 2 incomplete hdc in last closing eyelet (= 5 loops on the hook). 3 incomplete hdc in the previous base stitch (= 11 loops on the hook). 3 incomplete hdc in the next stitch (= 17 loops on the hook). yo and draw through of all the loops, ch 1 to fasten.. (= 1 loop on the hook)

STEP TO STEP

ROUND 1: 1 puff in the initial stitch \* 1 puff in the closing eyelet of the previous puff \* Repeat from \* to \* until the desired width.
