3 stitches for the border - 19 lace pattern repeats of 20 stitches, plus 1 - 3 stitches for the border. $=387$ stitches. Cast on: 3 stitches for the border - 19 lace pattern repeats of 21 stitches - 3 stitches for the border $=405$ stitches. Row 1- 14: Work stitches as they appear (knit the knits, purl the purls, and purl the YOs). Row 15 - 30: Work the lace pattern.

Edge stitch

RS row: slip the 1st stitch purl wise, yarn in front. Knit the last stitch through back loop. WS row: slip the 1st stitch purl wise, yarn in front. Purl the last stitch through back loop.
